The JHS Pedals Summing Amp can blend two inputs and convert them into one output. The Edge (U2) used this technique in the 80s for his delay sounds. By placing a quarter note delay and a dotted eighth delay in parallel before summing, the effect's two delays are crisper and don't sound like "delay on delay". This can also be used in overdrive, where they are placed in parallel rather than boosting the pedal connected after them as in series. Another use is to put a fuzz and a compressor in parallel, so the signal going into the fuzz is not affected by the compressor.
