The lo-fi sounds of "old school" games, toys and devices - buzzes, beeps, bloops - are unique and still popular today. Mainframe Bit Crusher takes you back to the days when Pac-Man and Donkey Kong ruled the arcades and the Commodore 64 was considered high tech.

Mainframe's sample rate reduction can be set from 48KHz to 110Hz. Sample rate is the number of times a sample or snapshot of an analog signal is taken per second. For example, a CD has a sample rate of 44.1kHz, which means that the original analog source is sampled 44,100 times per second. Reducing the sample rate reduces the quality of the audio and introduces aliasing. Mainframe's sample rates range from pristine to extremely difficult to recognize.

It also has a bit crushing function ranging from 24-bit to 1-bit. The higher the bit depth, the more accurate the dynamic range and the more creatively the sound can be degraded, bringing it back to that "old school" sound we all love. Another really cool feature is the sample rate tuning mode, which analyzes the incoming signal in real time and sets the sample rate to match the pitch of the signal, as well as setting it at the intervals above. This allows you to set the sample rate to match the key of the song or continuously adjust the sample rate depending on what you're playing.
