Features

Over the years, the Morning Glory is undoubtedly our most well known and praised overdrive pedal. It has won more awards and rave reviews than any other JHS pedal. This pedal was developed in 2009 out of a need for an overdrive pedal that would simply take the sound of a guitar and amp to the next level without the harsh mid-range or other tonal characteristics that came with Tubescreamer type circuits on the market. Its goal was, and still is, to be the easiest to use and most transparent overdrive available. Even though the "transparent" buzzword has become a bit overused all these years later, the meaning and application still stands as the best way to describe the magic that the Morning Glory brings to your rig. Let's take a look at what improvements have been made to the Morning Glory V4.

Looking at the controls, we have VOLUME, DRIVE, TONE and GAIN. The VOLUME control acts as a master output level control. One improvement in the V4 is that we have added twice the headroom to this control compared to the V3. The DRIVE control provides overdrive as you turn it clockwise. Increasing the setting of this control slightly increases the amount of treble. The TONE control is a basic high pass filter, turning it clockwise makes the tone brighter. Conversely, turning it counterclockwise makes it darker. The GAIN toggle switch acts as a new boost mode. This mode is more powerful overall, with more low end, and the higher settings of the DRIVE knob produce a higher gain tone than any other variation of the Morning Glory. The toggle switch setting is indicated by a red status LED and can be remotely controlled via the 1/4" jack labeled "Remote Gain" on the right side of the pedal. This feature allows the GAIN toggle to be changed on the fly during a live performance. If you are short on space on your board you can set your normal tone and then instantly switch to a second tone with the Red Remote. The Bright (HI) Cut toggle switch is also located on the side of the pedal, where it is easily accessible and out of the way. This switch is useful for use with equipment that tends to be a little brighter in tone or for a higher gain drive sound. The input jack is located on the lower right side and the output jack is located on the left side. The MG is powered only by a standard 9V DC power supply.

Whether you play a Stratocaster or a Les Paul, you'll instantly understand that the Morning Glory is touch-sensitive and keeps 100% of the feel of your instrument intact. From the chime-like sounds of "Little Wing" to full chord rock, the Morning Glory is hard to beat. If you're one of the thousands who have been interested in Morning Glory for the first time and are adding it to your rig, the Morning Glory V4 has all the right features, tones, and ease of use to make it your first choice overdrive pedal.

The power supply can be a standard 9V DC/100mA center negative adapter.
