Features

The MF-102 Ring Modulator is an award-winning effect designed by Bob Moog that features an analog ring modulator with carrier oscillator and LFO. When used with bass, guitar, keyboards, samples, or recorded tracks, the MF-102 is subtle and stunning, with no digital influences.

The MF-102 Ring Modulator is a direct descendant of the original Moog modular synthesizer. It features three complete modular functions: a ring modulator, a voltage-controlled carrier oscillator and a voltage-controlled two-waveform LFO. It can handle any line or instrument level.

The Ring Modulator generates the sum and difference of different frequencies between the audio input and the carrier oscillator, and the Ring Modulator's LFO can be used to modulate the carrier frequency. The Moogerfooger Ring Modulator can create effects ranging from subtle tremolo to harmonically rich distortion, gong-like sounds and bombardment sounds. Uses can be subtle or outlandish.

The Moogerfooger Ring Modulator has four control parameters: MIX, Frequency, LFO Rate, and LFO Amount. All parameters can be controlled by expression pedal or external CV as well as by easy to use knobs. Panel switches allow selection of LFO waveform and carrier frequency range. 1/4 inch jacks for audio in/out, pedal input, and carrier in/out. A sturdy yet smooth-acting bypass switch allows use on both tabletop and floor operation.

If the ring modulator's carrier oscillator is producing a 500Hz sine wave, and the input signal is a 100Hz sine wave, the output waveform of the ring modulator will be complex, and you will hear two pitches, 400Hz and 600Hz, and not the original input or carrier oscillator.
