Features
If you've ever heard the original Marshall JTM45, you know it's the sound of classic rock and roll. The classic JTM45 has a warm, rich tone that can make a Stratocaster sing or a Les Paul scream. The JHS Charlie Brown takes any good amp and turns it into a living replica of the era. The Charlie Brown V4 is based on the popular V3, keeping the heart and soul of the original while adding more versatility and options. Let's take a look at the controls.
Looking at the pedal, we can see the controls VOLUME, DRIVE, BASS, MIDS and TREBLE. The VOLUME control works like the master volume of an amplifier. Simply turn it clockwise to increase the volume and counterclockwise to decrease the volume. The DRIVE control controls the amount of distortion/overdrive in the signal path. Fully clockwise is the most distortion you can get, and fully counterclockwise is the cleanest setting. GAIN below 50% creates a rough low-gain overdrive, the sound that Hendrix liked. With GAIN (DRIVE) in the upper half, a new world opens up, and its natural crunch sound makes it a standout among our overdrive pedal lineup. Fully clockwise, you're in high-gain overdrive heaven.
New to the V4 are the addition of BASS, MIDS and TREBLE controls. To stay true to vintage Marshall amps, we decided it was time to incorporate a full Marshall style tone stack. All three of these controls cut and boost frequencies, and are relatively flat at 12 o'clock. There's an input 1/4" jack on the right side and an output jack on the left side. If you're looking for a classic rock overdrive that has the feel, sound, taste and smell of the real thing...
